A pay stub or a paycheck stub is a document showing the amount of pay an employee or worker received for a definite pay period.  The modern way of paying wages is through direct deposits which can be withdrawn by ATM or debit cards.  However, the employees are still provided a paycheck stub so that they can verify the correctness of the payments they receive.

If a check is attached to the pay slip, the check is marked non-negotiable and just serves as a facsimile of the amount deposited to the bank.
